Basically they are protesting the expansion of Camp Humphreys. I am stationed at Osan, AB. They just want our money up here. We do a lot of humanitarian work like volunteering at soup kitchens and visiting the surrounding cities in an effort to build ties with the locals. The younger generation is starting to feel like we need to leave so there are tons of demonstrations all over the penninsula. Usually they do not get violent and we are sent notification to avoid certain areas on certain times as they get permits to demonstrate here!! Being here is pretty weird it is very "charged" all the time. My bases motto is "Reday to Fight Tonight". We do a lot of practice scenarios where the whole base gets involved and get graded on our mission cababilities. If we do anything besides excellent colonel's get fired! If any body wants to come visit I would say you are quite safe, and I would love to go see the DMZ!

What's going on? Is this something everyone else already knows about? I feel like such a selfish, ignorant American!
